🎨Art Nouveau Portrait Study — After Alphonse Mucha A personal Art Nouveau study after Alphonse Mucha’s Moët & Chandon Crémant Impérial (1899), created as a return to detailed portrait and ornamental illustration. Rather than aiming for a faithful reproduction, I used Mucha’s original composition and silhouette as a framework while reworking the portrait, foliage, jewellery, costume details and decorative elements through my own drawing and rendering process. The study became an exercise in rebuilding hand, colour and detail — particularly the balance between the figure, ornament and repeated motifs. Personal study, 2026. This piece captures the powerful energy of horses in motion, focusing on the interplay between light and the surrounding dust to create a cinematic, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Technical Focus: • Capturing Motion: Emphasizing the fluid anatomy and powerful stride of the horses to convey speed and strength. • Atmospheric Rendering: Using soft tonal gradients and charcoal blending to create a realistic 'dust' effect, providing a sense of depth and environment. • Light & Shadow (Chiaroscuro): Utilizing strong backlighting to define the silhouettes and textures of the horses against the hazy background. This work demonstrates my ability to bring movement and life to traditional graphite and charcoal mediums, creating visual stories that feel both grounded and epic.
