How can I pay a contractor?
You can pay a contractor using one of the following credit cards:
American Express
China UnionPay (CUP)
Discover & Diners
Japan Credit Bureau (JCB)
Mastercard
Visa
Clients can also pay with a US bank account. Request access to bank account payments by adding a new account here.
Will my credit card information be saved on the Contra platform?
No, your credit card information is handled and processed securely by Stripe. Learn how Stripe handles security here.
Can I pay with a US bank account?
Yes, clients can pay with a US bank account to avoid potentially high credit card fees. Bank account payments currently require approval and are only being extended to Clients from established companies.

Can I have more than one project at a time?
Yes! You can use Contra to manage as many projects and contractors as you need.
These can be contractors that you discover on Contra or ones that you have worked with in the past and invited to Contra.
Can I be refunded if a contractor is not meeting my project needs?
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis, and we take into consideration multiple factors to ensure fairness for both parties. If a contractor is not meeting your standards, please file a project dispute.
Please note that upfront payments and stand-alone invoice payments are non-refundable.
How do I report taxes from spendings on Contra?
You’re responsible for compliance with all applicable tax laws. All transaction history can be found in your Contra wallet.
My payment was refunded; where are my funds?
Refunds can take 5-10 days to be processed from the day the refund was initiated. If you need payment assistance, please contact hello@contra.com.
How often will I be charged?
Charges depend on the type of project. Here’s how it works:
One-time projects: payment is collected for the entire project when the project kicks off. Funds will be held securely until the contractor submits final deliverables. Once you approve, we’ll send payment to the contractor.
Milestone projects: payment is collected for each milestone at the start of that milestone. Your milestones and corresponding costs are defined when you set up the project.
Recurring projects: payment is collected upfront for the first cycle, and subsequent cycles are collected at the beginning of those cycles (like at the beginning of each month for recurring projects on a monthly schedule).
How do I cancel or dispute a project?
Disputes and cancellations can be made through Contra. Cancellation can only occur before a payment is made. If a payment has been made, you will have to submit a dispute. Once a dispute request is made, our support team will review the request and proceed with a resolution. Disputes that are outside the scope of Contra’s dispute resolution process will be arbitrated by the parties.
