Founded in 1939, Agencia EFE has taken its place as the world's foremost Spanish-language news agency and 4th overall, coming right after Associated Press (AP), Reuters and Agence France-Presse (AFP).

My time in Agencia EFE was one of my most creative and dynamic work experiences. Every morning, I would receive a stream of news articles generated in Spanish and produce a carefully crafted English version before the news cycle ran its course, which happens in the blink of an eye.

With pieces ranging all over the map, I was able to deliver translations of articles on economics, culture, politics, sports, finance and culture. The end result needed to conform to the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook, so, naturally, most pieces required a major overhaul.

Another part of my job was to select from a pool of fresh or saved photographs and illustrations to accompany the article, which required to get inside the minds of Spanish-speakers, not only in terms of what language they spoke, but also what they would respond to better visually.
