Who else spends their free time stitching? 🙋🧵🪡 More people are spending time with tactile hobbies like cross-stitch, knitting, and crochet since the pandemic. I believe ~45% of needleworkers are also now under the age of 35! My submission for the #retoolchallenge, Needleminder, is built to help those creatives in these hobbies organize their needlework projects, inventory, and patterns they might have. The goal is to never let project materials and amazing patterns go to waste. A really fun way to explore how Retool handles a unique and functional use case. Thanks to @Retool and @Contra HQ for putting this challenge on. Excited to hear people's thoughts on the project!

Ever get a receipt from a non-profit? Usually those are given when you donate clothes. For many other 501(c)(3)s, these types of in-kind donations can be a hassle to manage administratively (as I'm well aware!). My Tempo Labs submission allows a nonprofit to have a portal for users to self serve with a password, and generate in-kind donation acknowledgements that the nonprofit has track of afterwards. I created a Rive character rig of a cat that follows the mouse cursor, loosely based on a tutorial but heavily customized to make it my own. For example, the eye blinks are set to trigger randomly, using a number generated as the mouse moves, making them feel more natural and less mechanically timed. I also added a subtle shadow at the cat’s feet that moves with its head, giving it a more 3D look. I’m really happy with the tracking and would love to see this implemented in other projects or similar characters. I’ve been having a great time working with Rive and hope to see more people incorporating their own custom interfaces. I’ll share more as I continue creating projects.

While browsing the applications, I came across a website redesign for Herbal Goodness (https://contra.com/company/herbal_goodness_9b1657) Shopify store. I started exploring the idea of reshaping the site to feel more organic and in harmony with nature, using a softer, calming green tone instead of the harsh green featured on their current site. This is just a concept for the overall design, using resources from their website, but I think the flow feels a bit easier to follow.

The current logo, a relic of the Xbox 360 era, seemed outdated for the new era. Therefore, I decided to incorporate elements from both the original logo design and that of Windows. This fusion symbolizes the fact that any Windows device can be an Xbox.
