Most ā€œbasicā€ products arenā€™t finished. Theyā€™re just designed for a generic user that doesnā€™t exist. Calendars, trackers, and management systems are often seen as ā€œsolvedā€ products. But once you look at them through the lens of a specific audience, they rarely are. We saw it while working on a digital journal and calendar for students. Surprisingly, there are still very few tools designed around their reality. As products evolve toward deep personalization, itā€™s not always necessary to invent something entirely new. What matters is designing something specific. Talk to users! Find a real group with real constraints.
