Illuspark - Freelance Marketplace & Collaboration Platform for Creatives

A platform where portfolio, hiring, and community finally live in the same place.

Lynksen's Role: full-cycle platform creation

Project Overview

Illuspark is a complex marketplace built for creative professionals - web, product, and brand designers, 3D and motion artists - and the clients who hire them.
The challenge was that existing platforms each solve only one piece - a portfolio site, a hiring board, or a community, never all three. Our client wanted the opposite: a platform that covers these three things instead of sitting in separate tabs - built to hold onto users long after the first hire.
We built a freelance platform where portfolio, hiring & community work as one continuous system instead of three separate steps.
AI search flow

Solution

01 AI Search

Most first-time clients don't know which specialist they actually need: "I need a website" could mean a web designer, a UI/UX designer, or a developer.
We built an AI assistant that reads a plain-language brief and returns a ranked shortlist with a stated reason for every match, showing reputation in stars & number of reviews of each specialist.

02 AI Reputation Analyzer

We built an engine that scores every specialist on a few criteria: deadline consistency, decision speed, and revision turnaround. Then it surfaces that score inside AI Search's results, so every match arrives with a stated trust reason.

03 Community Contests

Research showed that Illuspark's core users - creative professionals aged 25-35 - stick around once they land a first hire, but many drop off before that happens.
So we built Contests as real paid briefs with fixed price and deadline, and open to apply, giving new users income and portfolio proof in their first week, not an abstract challenge with no reward.
People & projects by categories

04 Collab Squads

Collab Squads lets freelancers form a temporary team around a project type and apply to a brief as a single unit. This creates a sort of partnership system, where creatives can share those pieces of work others can be more skilled in.
This is the gap no existing freelance platforms was built to fill.

⚙️ Technical Implementation

The interface was designed in Figma and built on a React/Next.js frontend with a Node.js and PostgreSQL backend. WebSockets power real-time chat, notifications, and brief updates, so nothing on the platform relies on a page refresh to feel current.
AI Search embeds each brief and matches it against structured specialist data, such as category, skills and project history, so it can explain why a match fits. The Reputation Analyzer recalculates scores on the same data after every completed project.
We also mapped the full site architecture before any screen was designed, built a reusable UI component system, and set up heatmaps to track user behavior.

Result

We delivered a freelance marketplace that gives Illuspark's client something no competitor offers: a single platform creatives actually stay on past their first hire, instead of bouncing back to Behance or Upwork.

Project Stats 🌐

1) Platform growth: 9,100+ registered users within the first 3 months post-launch
2) 30-day retention (25-35 cohort): +42% among users who entered a Contest in their first week
