Why is everyone turning their logos into disco balls? 🪩
Spotify’s anniversary stunt works because it’s rooted in their DNA—it’s music, it’s celebratory, and it’s meant to be temporary. But turning every other logo into a disco ball just to chase a trend? That misses the point of brand identity.
I started thinking: If I were on the Claude design team and tasked with exploring this 3D/skeuomorphism trend, how would I approach it? I wouldn’t force a disco ball. I’d lean into their core identity: refinement and precision.
Meet the "Gem of Wisdom."
I reimagined the Claude mark as a precious gemstone—tactile, multi-faceted, and premium. By treating the logo as an object of value rather than just a flat icon, I wanted to bring it into a space that feels tangible and intentional.
Process: I used Gemini to generate the initial assets and video iterations, focusing on achieving realistic light refraction and depth.
👇 Do you think brands should blindly turn their logo into a disco ball to jump on a trend, or should they adapt the core concept to fit their own unique identity?

Exactly, i dont get why everyone is after spotify logo

Exactly! The whole point is to adopt the concept of dimensional branding, not to copy-paste the execution.

nah bro, I absolutely agree with your point I don’t see any identity in a brand trying to squeeze itself into trends unless it’s some small detail that doesn’t really affect the core brand identity

Exactly! That’s exactly my point lol. It feels like everyone is just missing the bigger picture. There’s so much potential to do something cool with a trend, and everyone just goes for the most basic, 'copy-paste' version. Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking this! 🙌

Haha definitely not a hater! I actually love the energy behind the trend.. It’s all about the 'why' behind the design! 🙌

For fun, I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

True, but can’t we have fun while creating something original? lol. Creating with intent is way more fun than just mindless copy-pasting!

Even chefs follow recipes. As long as they're not selling it as their own, I don't see the harm. Save the "originality", if there is such a thing, for the real work.

Not every trend you should follow. The ability to discern well counts and has an impact in whatever you do
Jere's avatar
100%! Every design choice is a brand decision. It's all about that discernment 🙌
