๐ YouthSpike Tournament Management Platform Live: https://aslsquads.com (https://aslsquads.com/)This is the largest and most technically challenging project I've built to date. I designed and developed a full-scale tournament management platform capable of handling large spikeball tournaments with real-time scoring, live standings, team management, player rankings, public event tracking, and many more. Unlike a typical CRUD application, this project required solving complex engineering challenges around performance, scalability, real-time synchronization, deployment, and infrastructure. What I built โก Three production applications Admin Dashboard Public Tournament Website GraphQL Backend API ๐ฅ Multiple user roles Admins Directors Team Captains Public Spectators ๐ Complete tournament workflow Event management Team & player management Match scheduling Live scoring Custom ranking algorithms Tiebreakers & overtime logic Live standings Performance & Scalability Tournament traffic is highly unpredictableโthousands of users can join as soon as an event starts. To ensure the platform remained responsive under heavy load, I implemented: Redis caching WebSocket-based real-time updates GraphQL optimizations MongoDB query optimization Efficient data structures and algorithms Pagination and lazy loading Server-side performance tuning The result is a system that remains fast even while processing large amounts of tournament data and concurrent user activity. Infrastructure & DevOps I handled the entire production infrastructure myself, including: Docker containerization VPS provisioning Nginx reverse proxy configuration DigitalOcean deployment SSL configuration CI/CD deployment workflows Server monitoring and optimization The project was initially deployed on AWS, but after evaluating operational costs and maintenance, I migrated the entire infrastructure to DigitalOcean for a more efficient and cost-effective architecture. Tech Stack Next.js (Admin & Public Frontends) NestJS GraphQL MongoDB Redis WebSockets (Socket.IO (http://Socket.IO)) Docker Nginx DigitalOcean GitHub Actions Why this project stands out This wasn't just about building featuresโit was about engineering a platform that could reliably support real-world tournaments with sudden traffic spikes and complex business rules. From designing the system architecture to implementing custom tournament algorithms, optimizing database performance, managing servers, and deploying production infrastructure, I was responsible for the project end-to-end. It remains the most sophisticated and rewarding software system I've developed, combining full-stack development, backend architecture, DevOps, scalability, and performance engineering into a single production-ready application.

Tournament Scoring System (Full Stack MERN Application) ๐ฅ Live Demo & Preview ๐ฌ Video Preview: Watch Project Demo (https://youtu.be/et22swVylUQ?utm_source=chatgpt.com) ๐ Live Application: Visit Live Site (https://youthspikersleague.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)A powerful and structured Tournament Scoring Management System built with the MERN stack, designed to handle multi-round competitions with automated scoring, ranking, and real-time tournament progression. This system is built around clarity, fairness, and automation, allowing organizers to fully manage tournaments from player registration to final rankings with minimal manual effort. ๐ Authentication & Role Management The application starts with a secure authentication system where a super admin is automatically created on initialization. From there, the admin can: Create and manage multiple staff accounts Assign operational responsibilities to staff members Control access to tournament management features This ensures scalable management for large tournaments handled by multiple organizers. ๐๏ธ Event Management Admins can create and manage tournament events easily by providing: Event Name Event Date All created events are listed in the admin dashboard for quick access and management. ๐ฅ Participant Management Inside each event, organizers can manage participants in two flexible ways: Manual Entry Add participants individually using a simple form (first name & last name required, other fields optional). CSV Import Bulk upload participants using a structured CSV file format for faster onboarding. This makes the system suitable for both small and large-scale tournaments. ๐ฎ Tournament Structure (Scramble / Rounds System) Each event consists of 5 structured rounds. Before each round: Admin selects participants for that round System automatically organizes players into teams (2 players per team per net) Initial round pairings are based on ranking, while later rounds adjust dynamically based on performance ๐ Scoring & Ranking System Each match operates with configurable winning points per net. Default winning point: 1 Admin can customize per match (e.g., 5 vs 9 scoring setup) Winner is determined automatically Point differential is calculated instantly (e.g., +4 / -4 system) After each round: Rankings are recalculated automatically based on performance Standings update dynamically after all matches Supports 5-round cumulative scoring logic ๐ Live Leaderboard & Analytics The system provides a comprehensive tournament overview: Overall ranking leaderboard after each round Round-by-round point breakdown Detailed match history for every game Full transparency of scoring and progression ๐ Public Access Dashboard Beyond authentication, the platform also provides a public-facing view where: Tournament details Rankings Match summaries can be viewed without login, making it ideal for audience engagement and live tournament tracking. ๐ Summary This system transforms traditional tournament management into a fully automated, structured, and transparent scoring platform, reducing manual effort while improving accuracy and user experience for both organizers and audiences.

๐ Stockvel Credit System: Community Savings Platform Preview Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFPlZueA-OQ A full-featured multi-role financial savings and credit platform built to manage community-based group savings (Stockvel/Stokvel model), where members contribute regularly and receive structured payouts based on defined rules. This system is designed for real-world financial group management, not a demo toy. ๐ก What This Project Solves Traditional community savings groups often struggle with: Lack of transparency in contributions Manual tracking of payments and withdrawals No proper role control (leader vs member confusion) Poor record keeping and accountability No structured approval workflows This platform solves all of that with a clean, scalable digital system. โ๏ธ Core Capabilities ๐ฅ Role-Based System Admin, Leader, and Member roles Each role has strict permissions and responsibilities Leader controls pack operations and member approvals ๐ฐ Stockvel (Group Savings) Management Create and manage savings groups (packs) Define contribution rules and schedules Set withdrawal cycles and limits Member join requests with approval workflow ๐ Trust & Verification Layer Identity verification via document uploads Admin approval for packs and leaders Controlled onboarding flow ๐ Financial Structure Logic Contribution tracking per member Scheduled withdrawal assignment Pack lifecycle management (active, pending, closed) ๐ Sharing & Growth Invite/share links for public joining Controlled access via secure links Scalable group expansion system ๐ง Engineering Notes (Important) This project was built before ChatGPT and AI-assisted coding tools became mainstream. That means: No AI-generated architecture No โvibe codingโ or prompt-based scaffolding Entire system was designed, structured, and debugged manually Real engineering decisions were made for database design, permissions, and workflows It reflects traditional full-stack engineering discipline rather than AI-assisted prototyping. ๐ ๏ธ Tech Stack PHP 7.4 (Backend logic) MySQL 5.7 (Relational data layer) Apache (Server environment) Docker (Containerized development & deployment) Composer (Dependency management) PDO (Secure database interactions) ๐ฆ Why This Project Stands Out Real-world financial system logic (not a CRUD demo) Multi-role permission architecture Complex relational database design Migration-based schema system Production-style Docker setup Built for scalability and long-term use ๐ฏ Ideal Use Cases This system can be adapted for: Community savings groups (Stockvels / Rotating savings clubs) Microfinance group platforms Cooperative financial systems Membership-based contribution platforms NGO financial tracking systems ๐ฅ Summary This is a production-grade community finance platform designed with real-world constraints, structured workflows, and strong role-based control. It demonstrates: Backend architecture thinking Database design skills System-level engineering Real product development mindset
