Celebrating Contra’s 3-year Anniversary

Its been a crazy 3 years. Today is Contra’s 3-year anniversary from our first launch as a team in 2021. In these last 3 years, we have built a network of over 700,000 independents and 20,000 clients that use Contra to connect and work together in an entirely new way. Today is the start of a new chapter in Contra’s journey and we can’t wait for you to see it.

We started Contra because we weren’t happy with the status quo. Independents and clients were being pitted against each other on middle man platforms that encouraged a race to the bottom. Independents were being double taxed on their earnings and client relationships were being held hostage to a system that prioritized commission fees over everything else.

We knew the world was changing to an entirely new paradigm of work, and we knew we had to do something about it. Today, Contra is the fastest growing skills-based professional network. We spent our first two years building the best product we could for independent professionals and for the last year we have have been reimagining what it means to support companies on Contra. In order to create a thriving ecosystem of opportunities for independents, we knew we had to make something that solves a pain point for clients and companies in a big way. So far, it’s working. We have matched over $30M in opportunities to independents and we are just getting started.





The way we work is changing. “Full-time”, “in office”, “hybrid” “9-5”.. it’s all a relic of a past way of doing things that was constrained by factories, machinery and the need for real time communication to move things forward. Fast forward to 2024 and the world looks completely different. The way we collaborate, communicate and create value are all location and timezone independent. This has unlocked an entirely new way of working. Companies and employees have more flexibility than ever before. The way we team up on a collective goal is no longer limited by the constraints of the past.

Today, we are thrilled to launch Contra for Companies. Contra is where the world’s best companies scale their flexible teams. Over the last year, we reimagined the hiring experience on Contra from the ground up to what we think is a 10x experience over the middle man marketplaces and we are excited to see what you think.
