The client is in a niche where getting links is notoriously hard. A Chinese company, providing medical procedures in Thailand and China. This is a niche littered with sites that have crashed and burned buying links becuase how else to get them?
My job was to find a way to get links of value. Bid end of town. So I commissioned a study which showed data on the hidden value of the stay at home mum, and promoted it to the press.
Why this topic? a. It's not left or right. So any journalist can write about it. b. It's not topical, so i did not need to worry about another similar study going live before I could publish mine. c. In my client's niche, the mother's are the ones most often looking after a high needs child so there was relevant to acknowledge the value of such work. The results? 160+ links from sites such as The New York Post, Forbes, Fox and more. Traffic tripled within 3 months, and is still rising.
