0-1 Energy Management System design for early-stage startup
β¦ Results
Delivered complete product strategy and UX architecture for complex multi-site energy monitoring, structuring workflows across wind, solar, and battery storage assets into a unified operational interface.
Established scalable 0-1 design foundation spanning virtual power plant management, energy trading, scheduling, and alarms, ready for engineering handoff.
β¦ About
Sentry (πΈπͺ) is a desktop Energy Management System designed to monitor and control energy infrastructure across multiple sites, specifically wind turbines, PV parks, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The platform established foundational UX patterns for complex workflows spanning virtual power plant management, energy trading, scheduling, and alarms, before unfortunately being shelved during a strategic company pivot.
Each asset type was assigned a distinct colour gradient, but the interface was kept predominantly white to let status indicators do the talking. Green for online and operating at efficiency, red for errors and critical alerts.
β¦ Features / flows designed:
Dashboard, All Sites, Site Management, Schedule (Groups, Hourly, Quarterly), Virtual Power Plant, Reports (Scheduled & Ad-hoc), Trading View (Bidding Summary, Trade History), Alarms, Offline History, Asset Management
States for Optimal, Sub-Opitmal and Poor Efficiencies
A hollistic view of all sites - energy being produced, lead contact, efficiency and asset types within
Complex architecture easily navigated via breadcrumbs
