ClearScore was one of my first freelance clients in 2020, and I wrote short-form articles for them until late 2024, when they shifted their content strategy toward video.
Their mission was to educate their readers about personal finance - particularly credit scores - and help them manage their money more effectively. They’ve seen massive success, with millions of app downloads in South Africa, the UK, and Australia.
What I did
Researched each topic thoroughly, often going beyond the first page of Google to find accurate, South Africa-specific information.
Wrote regular articles (600 to 1,000 words) targeting everyday South Africans curious about improving their credit rating.
Edited my work carefully before submission to match ClearScore’s jargon-free, straight-talking tone.
Completed revisions as needed, always adapting to brand shifts and editorial preferences.
Work Style & Process
ClearScore tested a few different workflows over the years. I initially worked via Trello - receiving briefs and submitting drafts on the same cards. Later, they moved to Notion, where the structure stayed largely the same. I adapted easily to both systems and ensured all deadlines were met without fuss.
