The client - Leader of Pro Bono Network 👩‍🦰, has a website that wants to give a total redesign and incorporate new features such as the presentation of information and dates of conferences, lectures and articles of the companies participating in the event.

My role & responsibilities: concept development, front-end design + UI/UX, front-end programming, back-end programming & configuration, project management.

Basically, the request was to add the new features to the existing website, keeping the cohesive style to the brand and adding new features to the platform.

🔜 Create a design that represents the Pro Bono brand, UI/UX and code to allow customization in the publications of the dates, times and speakers of the events.

🔜 Develop an interface where registered users are able to manage their own events as well as the company they represent at the event.

🔜 Display events always with the time of the website visitor, but allow each registered user to upload events in their time zone.

🔜 Present a simple interface for event dates and allow to view dates by days / weeks / months.

I have background in pattern making and design + coding knowledge and the design studio knows me long and well enough to recommend me to their client 💪.

🔎 The main problem is that the active website was outdated and the current technical service did not have the specific knowledge to create custom tools in WordPress.

🔎 The new features requested by the client required particular solutions for this project.

🔎 The coding challenge was to figure out the tools and where to add functionality to the plugins that WordPress already offers and that can be maintained during future updates.

🔎 The design challenge was to make the new website look consistent with the brand and with a good UX for both unregistered and registered users.

🔎 The project management challenge was to balance the complexity of the request with reasonable budget & timeline.

As part of the project I developed the design sketch of UI/UX in FIGMA that was based on their branding:

Project management was handled in Slack.

The project was done on WordPress with "Elementor Pro" and "Hello Theme" as a base builder for the design.

Code written in Visual Studio Code to customize the date and time management plugins

The client was satisfied with the result which was delivered in 1 month of full time work and was within the agreed fixed budget, we only went through 1 set of improvements regarding the design presented at the beginning of the project.

Registered users are able to: create and modify events and add conferences, but only administrators will be able to delete content. They also have access to video tutorials on how to manage each element in the WordPress dashboard and all the extra tools available for event management.

Unregistered users are able to: browse the public website and see in their time zone the dates and times of the events, they will be able to filter by certain parameters the available events and change the layout in which they are presented according to events by days / by weeks or by months... They will also be able to register for them according to the indications of the particular event.

I loved working on the project as it was a great use of the knowledge I had and I learned new coding skills and tools to get the project done. The WordPress documentation was instrumental in using the best possible method to add custom functionality. In the difficulties my team was great, regarding image/text changes during the creation of the website.
