Project Overview

During my tenure with the Minority Connection Initiative (MCI) at Boston University, I contributed to the creation and promotion of "The Drop," a living public resource document. This online directory is built and maintained by minority students, featuring classes taught by minority faculty and staff, as well as courses covering ethnic and religious minority history, art, and experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Research and Maintenance: Assisted in the research necessary for building and updating The Drop on a semester basis, ensuring the directory remained current and relevant.
Public Relations Strategy: As Public Relations Chair, I spearheaded the online and in-person promotion of The Drop across campus.

Promotional Activities

Digital Graphics Creation: Designed engaging digital graphics that included embedded links to the updated resource document for easy access.
Social Media Campaigns: Promoted The Drop through MCI's social media channels and radio platform to maximize visibility among students.
Stakeholder Engagement: Shared the resource with key stakeholders from various student groups and university departments, including:
Direct Outreach: Personally contacted over 50 professors featured in The Drop, encouraging them to share the resource with their students prior to each semester's class registration window.

Impact

The Drop served as a vital mechanism for achieving MCI's mission of building engaging and lasting relationships between minority students, faculty, and staff. It provided essential support and unity within the BU community while raising awareness of minority experiences on campus. By highlighting diverse courses and instructors, The Drop empowered students to make informed academic choices in a more inclusive educational environment.
Overall, this project showcases my ability to conduct thorough research, create content, and develop effective promotional strategies that foster collaboration among various stakeholders while successfully promoting branded content and enhancing community engagement.
