Teambox, developed by Touchlogic, is a digital penalty jar designed to streamline fine management for soccer teams. I was brought on board to create the app's initial design and branding, focusing on user experience and a strong visual identity for the MVP, to secure investments and prove product market fit.
The Challenge:
The challenge was to translate the concept of a traditional penalty jar into a user-friendly digital experience. The app needed to be intuitive, visually appealing, and facilitate seamless team interaction. We needed to design an app that would be easy to use for all team members.
Workshop and Planning:
The project kicked off with a 3-hour collaborative workshop, where we defined the app's core features and mapped out user flows on a whiteboard. This process ensured alignment between the client and development team, and helped to refine the MVP's scope. Inspiration was drawn from user-friendly apps like EasyPark and Nike Run Club, focusing on clear navigation and a distinct visual identity.
Design and Branding Process:
Based on the workshop's outcomes, I developed wireflows and initial designs, creating interactive prototypes for client testing. The branding and logo were created based on the clients vision. The app, initially named "Bødekassen," underwent a name change just before release, requiring adjustments to the logo and branding.
Logo Design: I designed the logo, going through several iterations, based on the clients concept.
UI/UX Design: User flows were carefully considered to ensure a smooth and intuitive experience. The design was iteratively refined based on client feedback and testing.
Branding: A cohesive visual identity was established, reflecting the app's purpose and target audience.
Results & Outcomes:
The final design and branding for Teambox provided a clean, user-friendly experience, enabling teams to easily manage fines. The client approved the design and branding, and the designs were handed off to the development team. The initial prototype was successful in attracting investment. The collaborative process and iterative design approach ensured that the app met the client's needs and resonated with its target audience.
Key Takeaways:
Collaborative Workshops: Essential for aligning vision and defining project scope.
Iterative Design: Crucial for refining user experience and meeting client expectations.
Branding and Visual Identity: Key components for creating a memorable and engaging app.
User-Centric Approach: Prioritizing user flows and intuitive design.
