A new kind of academic portfolio

Dr Brendan Churchill is one of Australia’s leading sociologists, with over 120+ academic publications discussing gender and work equality. To support his ongoing work, we built a robust CMS-driven website in Webflow to make it easy to share new research in a creative way, whilst maintaining academic credibility.

The Challenge

Academic portfolios are typically heavy archives, rather than clean experiences. Research is usually presented in dense layouts that are difficult to navigate and cumbersome to maintain. The challenge was to present a large body of work in a way that is accessible and engaging, whilst preserving the rigour and credibility expected within academia.
The user can switch between a Collapsed and Expanded view, switching between aesthetic and functional states.

The Opportunity

The real value was in the work itself. Brendan’s research is extensive and internationally recognised; an archive of insight already waiting to be discovered. The opportunity was to reframe how it was presented, transforming a dense catalogue into an accessible, exploration-led experience.
A structured CMS makes it possible to launch new academic work within minutes.

Outcomes

We transformed a dense research archive into a streamlined digital system optimised for both discovery and ongoing updates. New publications can be published with ease, while visitors can explore the entire body of work from one page. Strong technical foundations also delivered immediate visibility, with the site ranking Top 3 on Google within days of launch.
