Using Planetary Energy to Plan Your Workweek

A few years ago, I changed the way that I planned my weeks and scheduled my tasks, and it’s honestly been life-changing. I’ve been using the Moonly app for a couple years now, to track the phases of the moon, eclipses, and general grow my spiritual knowledge and awareness. One thing I really liked about Moonly is that it would tell you what planet ruled each day, and give you some things to focus on. While I thought it was cool, I never really tried putting that into practice until a few months ago. So here’s what I’ve learned (from Moonly and other sources) about planning my week using the energy of the planets, and how it’s helped me stay healthy and productive in these increasingly-worrisome times.

Monday - the Moon

Monday is ruled by the Moon, so I started making Mondays my admin and planning day. The moon has a calm, reflective energy that makes it easy to set goals and intentions for the week ahead, so that’s what I do. I take time to figure out what I need and want to get accomplished for the week, and I place my various tasks into the days of the week that I think fit best. For me, this means planning out content and client tasks, personal plans, and extracurricular activities. I created a page in Notion to write out all my tasks for the week, and I spend most of Monday creating that list and going into detail on client pages, extracurricular pages (yes I made Notion pages to track my DnD campaigns, don’t laugh at me), and personal/spiritual growth pages. It helps that I use Notion to track and plan almost every aspect of my life, so I can go to different pages and plan out certain projects and events with ease.

Tuesday - Mars

Tuesday is ruled by Mars, which is the planet of action and ambition. Tuesdays are my day of physical and mental action, so if I have a new project to start working on, I schedule it for Tuesday. I also have started using that Mars energy to get some cardio in each week, and it honestly feels so much easier to workout on Tuesdays instead of Mondays, which I was doing before. Tuesday’s are a day for powering through to-do lists, and getting shit done. Since I spent the whole day before planning everything out, it makes it super simple to just sit down (or stand up) and get to work.

Wednesday - Mercury

Wednesday is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication. I put as many meetings as possible on Wednesdays, and tend to do a lot of my client work and communication on Wednesdays as well. If I have promotional messaging to do, I schedule it for Wednesday, since it’ll be easier to express my message clearly with the energy of Mercury. It’s also a good day for networking, negotiating, and anything related to expressing myself and my business.

Thursday - Jupiter

Thursday is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and luck. Moonly suggests making Thursday a day for spiritual growth and practice, so I set aside time to meditate, journal, and practice with my tarot deck and pendulum. Beyond that, I love making Thursdays a day to learn new things, expanding my mind and my knowledge. I like finding YouTube videos that teach me new things about social media platforms, Notion, design, marketing trends, etc. since I often save videos I see throughout the week and don’t have time to dedicate to watching them. I also love the amazing classes that Holisticism has to offer, and their Liminal Library has so many free options. It’s literally built for spiritually-minded entrepreneurs, so there are a ton of classes that feel like they were made just for me, and they’ve been so helpful in my spiritual and entrepreneurial journeys.

Friday - Venus

Friday is ruled by the planet of love and creativity, Venus. That makes it a great day for projects that require your creative or social mind. Spend time with friends, make new ones, create to your heart’s content, and maybe take some time to pamper yourself too. I like to schedule design projects for Fridays, so that I make the most of that Venus energy. I also tend to schedule game nights with friends on Fridays too, since it’s a bit easier to be social then (introvert problems).

Saturday - Saturn

Saturday is ruled by the ever-responsible Saturn, so it’s a good day for housework, organization, and finishing up tasks leftover from the workweek. It’s often a bit difficult to keep all of your work to the 5-day workweek as a business owner, so Saturday is a good day to buckle down and finish up anything left for the week. If you have projects to do around the house, be sure to get those done too, and tackle any organization you need to do. Make sure anything left to do (cause there is always more to do) is shelved away for the next week, and that there are as few loose ends as possible by the end of Saturday.

Sunday - the Sun

Last but certainly not least, we have Sunday, ruled by the Sun. The Sun gives us a wonderful day of rest and relaxation before a new week begins. Spend time with friends and attend social gatherings, go outside and reflect on your week, and connect with yourself. Try not to give yourself any work on Sundays if you can help it, and just take the time you need to prepare for a new week.
Of course, it’s nearly impossible to sort your weekly tasks perfectly into their planetary day. You’ll have meetings outside of Wednesday, clients may have creative work for you on days besides Friday, and often work will spill over into days you want to keep work-free. For me though, having the vast majority of my tasks each week sorted by planetary ruling makes those outlier tasks so much easier to deal with. I have a little extra energy to handle the last-minute changes and chaos that comes with running my own business, and it makes the harder tasks I have so much easier to handle.
