Milestone projects can be broken down into a series of small phases, due dates, or deliverables based on a project's scope. Milestone projects are a good setup for projects with multiple phases, like a website redesign.

Each milestone is funded individually and requires a payment to be deposited to kick off work.

Here’s how it works:

The hiring client will deposit payment at the beginning of each milestone. Payments are held securely by Stripe until the deliverables are approved by the client, then funds will be sent to the freelancer once deliverables are approved. If the client doesn’t approve the deliverables within 120 hours of submission, Contra will automatically release funds to the freelancer. All subsequent milestone payments will need to be deposited by the client before proceeding to the next milestone.

Contra sends automatic communications to make sure everyone is aware of when payments are due.

Due dates for Milestone projects are agreed on between you and your client. While we don’t penalize you for missing deadlines, we encourage you to clearly communicate your timelines (and any needed updates) clearly to your client so everyone is on the same page.
