Misunderstood A personal essay that thinks through television. Every writer's job is to show us why a character does what they do — give an audience the reasons and even a cruel act becomes understandable. I turn that lens on ordinary life and the asymmetry it reveals: the grace we hand fictional strangers, we withhold from the people right in front of us. It starts from a private failure — that whatever I feel rarely lands intact on the other side — and follows it out to what's lost when reaching and being reached keep missing.

Evan's Digital and Physical Library A catalogue of the books actually on my shelf — the real thing, shelved exactly as it stands at home. I organized it by what each book is for rather than who wrote it: five zones running from the epics down to poetry, with philosophy East and West kept together, oldest first. Every spine carries its Library of Congress call number, and one view draws the whole shelf as a single long conversation — influence traced as lines from one book to the next, so you can watch the centuries fold into one argument that never quite ended. Catalogued by hand, built to be read as much as browsed.

EYESEE Five essays, each built on a single line of Marcus Aurelius. The Meditations get quoted constantly and read almost never; EYESEE does the reverse — I take one passage at a time and work it until it says something precise about how we see, judge, and misread each other. The first essay sits with his image of the "diseased eye," the mind that flinches from whatever it's asked to look at squarely. An old text handled as a live argument, not a keepsake.

A Working Encyclopedia of Philosophers: Cicero Cicero was an outsider who argued his way to the top of a republic that didn't want him there, and died for backing the wrong side of its collapse. This is the whole arc — the rise as a "new man," the consulship, the fall — written from the primary sources and illustrated by hand, built so someone meeting him for the first time can follow the entire life in one sitting. It's the first entry in a working encyclopedia of philosophers: reference meant to be read, not just consulted.

A therapy session ends. Then the second shift starts: writing the note. NoteMaven began with one question. Could the note start itself, without the clinician giving up control? The hard part wasn't the AI. It was trust. A clinician has to know exactly when they're being recorded, and that nothing becomes part of the record until they say so. So in September I rebuilt the whole product around the session itself: pick a client, choose video, audio or an upload, and everything after follows from there. • Meet by video or audio in NoteMaven and send your client a join link, or upload a recording you already have. • Camera, mic and recording all start off. Recording begins only after everyone agrees. • After the session, NoteMaven transcribes the conversation with timestamps and drafts the note you chose: SOAP, DAP or BIRP. • While reviewing, you can pin a private observation to the exact moment it happened. It stays separate from the clinical note. • Every draft is marked for review. Edit any section and finalize only when the note is yours. The look follows the same idea: a calm consultation room, not a cockpit. Warm grays, one orange for the next step, and a plain text label on every status. Behind the screen, the AI keys stay on the server, each provider sees only their own clients, and actions are logged. I designed and built NoteMaven end to end, from the interface to the transcription pipeline. See the story in seven 3D scenes: notemaven.tech (http://notemaven.tech)

"Otra" is Spanish for "another one!", what an audience shouts for an encore. That's the whole idea behind this project. Encore was the notation program musicians loved because it got out of the way: pick a note, click the staff, keep writing. Then the music stopped. Encore 5 doesn't run on current Macs, Encore 6 has been promised since 2022 and still hasn't shipped, and years of scores are stuck in .enc files that few programs can open. When I polled Encore users, they all said the same thing. They didn't miss a feature. They missed how easy it was. So Otra has two jobs. First, give people their music back. Otra Rescue is live today. Drop in a folder of Encore files and it turns them into MusicXML for MuseScore, Dorico and Sibelius, right in your browser, so your scores never leave your computer. Preview every file and convert one for free. Second, bring back the ease. The Otra editor opens October 31: • Pick a duration, click anywhere on the staff, and the gaps fill with rests. • Click the same spot again to build a chord. • Number keys pick durations, and everything also works with the mouse alone. • Everything can be undone, so nothing ever asks "are you sure?" The turning point was deciding that "easy" can't be a feeling. It has to be a test. Every flow in Otra has a test that counts the clicks, so a change that adds a step fails before it ships. From opening Otra to hearing your first note takes five actions or fewer. I lead the product, the design and the build. Claude helped crack the hardest engineering problems along the way. Try Rescue or pre-order the editor: rescue.otramusic.com (http://rescue.otramusic.com) See the countdown: otramusic.com (http://otramusic.com) Otra is made by sikahaus and isn't connected with or endorsed by the makers of Encore.

A self-initiated local automation dashboard that consolidates run history, queue state, source health, and secured operator actions into one review-first control surface. I built this to answer four operating questions quickly: what ran, what changed, what needs attention, and what action is safe to take next. The gallery shows the actual redacted interface, the system boundary, and dated validation proof. The dashboard uses registered actions instead of arbitrary commands, requires local/session checks for POST requests, and blocks unsafe file or path access. Best fit: automation operations dashboards, failed-run triage, queue monitoring, scheduled-job visibility, and controlled internal workflow tools.

Self-initiated internal product. Odds Desk uses public data only. It is not client work, a trading tool, or financial advice. I built this because a research brief is only as trustworthy as the source snapshot behind it. Catalog freshness, derived summaries, file identity, and editorial status need to stay consistent across every generated artifact. The workflow synchronizes a public catalog, exports one canonical bundle, generates and validates a summary, regenerates a manifest, checks declared SHA-256 values against disk, and produces a dashboard and Markdown brief from the same saved files. The workflow fails closed. If a required validation fails, the bundle stops, the evidence is preserved, and no buyer-ready issue is produced. The gallery shows a July 30, 2026 snapshot with 675 saved markets, 36 unverified research leads, zero verified cards, and four of four declared hashes matching disk. The state remains RESEARCH_PREVIEW. Best fit: public API ingestion, reproducible research bundles, validation pipelines, provenance checks, fail-closed editorial workflows, and automated briefing systems.
