Interactive Breathing Animation System Built in Rive I'd like to share a project I worked on a while ago. The visuals are simple, but the most interesting part was building a flexible animation system in Rive. I set up logic, states, and interactions. This allows the animation to adapt to different use cases. And at the same time, it stays lightweight and easy to integrate. All parameters are controlled by developers: from timing to breathing method. This makes it easy to adapt to different types of exercises. Key features: • Multi-language support • Breathing method selection (nose or mouth) • Adjustable timing for each phase (inhalation, holding, exhalation, resting) • One animation system for all exercise types (relaxation, focus, energy, etc.) Built before data binding was introduced in Rive 😂 Try it out: https://rive.app/s/qSSq8Fnsz0GfXhHoslnoyw/embed 1. Rive Mascot Animation Project Overview Design an expressive, interactive mascot animation in Rive that reacts to user actions and brings personality into the product experience. Role: Rive Animator Services: - Character redrawing (AI raster → clean vector) - Interactive Rive mascot animation (only 40 Kb) Tools: Rive, Adobe Illustrator Process: 1. Character Preparation The character was originally generated as a raster AI image. I manually rebuilt it as a clean, fully vector-based character, optimized for animation. 2. Rigging & Animation States I prepared the character for animation and created several expressive states, including: - Idle - Happy - Smiling - Winking To make the mascot feel more alive and responsive, I added an interactive behavior where the mascot follows the user’s mouse cursor when it gets close.

I’m a Rive / Lottie animator and vector illustrator, based in Helsinki, Finland. I specialize mostly in Rive and interactive animation. I especially love animating characters and mascots for apps and websites (EdTech, kids’ and gamified apps, character-driven digital products). I enjoy thinking through interaction logic and figuring out the best way to structure state machines. I'm really happy to see the community space here. Alongside this work, I’ve been thinking a lot about the current state of the AI field. I’ve noticed a strong imbalance.. men are still heavily represented, both in visibility and recognition. At the same time, women shape a significant part of everyday life and decision-making — yet remain underrepresented in shaping the systems behind them. If we want more diverse outputs, we also need more diverse voices using these tools, shaping them, and taking space. I want to encourage more women to step forward, experiment, and claim that space. CapCut has been bold in collaborating with artists like myself through their CPP program. Their platform now enables Seedance 2.0 — a tool currently at the center of the AI conversation. Hello Friends! I created this short film in under two weeks, based on my own script, as an entry to Runway’s Big Ad Contest. For the brief, I chose Product #4: Crown & Quill Bookmark. The idea is simple: books are only valuable if you know what page to return to. Instead of showing this directly, I approached it through everyday behavior — what happens when people use anything but a bookmark. The result is a quiet accumulation of misplaced objects, lost context, and small disruptions that affect both readers and library workers. The film draws from real events in Finnish libraries, where returned books often contain unexpected objects used as improvised bookmarks — from food to deeply personal items. News reports describe findings such as sausage, sandwiches, and even condom wrappers between pages. At Helsinki Central Library Oodi, staff have built a growing “memory wall” of these objects — a quiet archive of everyday traces left behind by readers. https://www.hs.fi/kulttuuri/art-2000011018119.html https://yle.fi/a/3-9528149 The idea is also rooted in personal experience: I’ve found dental picks inside library books, and once even received a call after leaving my European Health Insurance Card between the pages. Even within that limited time, I wanted to bring something essential from my artistic practice into the piece: emotion, atmosphere, and my ongoing exploration of how women are represented in visual culture.
