Civic – Identity Verification & Authentication
Introduction
A modern web for a global identity & authentication platform.
Civic provides secure, privacy-preserving identity verification and authentication for businesses worldwide. I redesigned the marketing website and key product pages to clarify positioning, explain complex features (KYC, liveness, passkeys), and guide different audiences—product, compliance, and developers—toward action with less friction.
Project Goals
Turn complex trust tech into clear, credible stories.
We aimed to elevate Civic’s brand and conversion by simplifying jargon, showcasing trust signals, and aligning UX with buyer journeys.
Key objectives included:
Clarify value props across industries (fintech, crypto, marketplaces).
Map tailored paths for PMs, Compliance, and Developers.
Improve time-to-docs and demo requests.
Build a scalable, documented Design System for the web.
Benchmarking & Research
Learning from leading security, dev-tool, and fintech sites.
I benchmarked identity and security leaders (e.g., Auth0/Okta, Onfido, Stripe Identity, Persona) focusing on:
Clarity of technical claims and proof (certs, audits, case studies).
Information hierarchy for evaluators vs implementers.
Depth and findability of docs and SDKs.
Trust cues: uptime, compliance, privacy posture.
Insights informed a content strategy that balances credibility and speed to action.
Navigation Architecture
Audience-first structure that reduces bounce.
Primary IA pillars:
Solutions: industry pages with tailored pains, outcomes, and ROI.
Products: KYC/AML, document verification, liveness, passkeys, reusable identity.
Developers: quickstart, SDKs, APIs, sandbox, status.
Resources: case studies, compliance, security, certifications.
Company: trust center, careers, press.
Clear CTAs (“Talk to us”, “Start in the Sandbox”, “View Docs”) anchor each path.
Design System
A trustworthy visual language for security at a glance.
I created a modular web Design System tuned for credibility and readability.
Core components
Navigation (mega-menu), section heroes, value grids.
Feature cards, comparison tables, pricing blocks.
Testimonial/case blocks, badges (SOC2, GDPR, ISO).
Code snippets, tabbed content, accordions, banners.
Defined tokens
Typographic scales for dense yet scannable content.
Neutral/dark palette with restrained accents for focus.
Spacing/grid for long-form pages and responsive layouts.
Iconography and status conventions (info/success/warning).
Consistent naming and documentation support rapid iteration.
Results
More clarity, stronger trust, faster conversion.
The new site sharpens Civic’s narrative, shortens the path to docs and demos, and surfaces proof (security, uptime, compliance) where it matters. The Design System enables faster page launches and consistent storytelling as product lines evolve—positioning Civic as a clear, credible leader in identity verification and authentication.
