Kernt™ is on a global mission to deliver paper alternatives that offer an industry standard quality of paper while using only world materials that are sustainable and naturally reoccur such as hemp, stone and fungi. Their range of eco-alt paper stock provides the same level of versatility as traditional paper options, yet with a world changing mission. The company needed a new brand identity that was as vibrant and impactful as the problem they aimed to solve.

How I saw it

"Highlight the unique processes, solutions and materials that make Kernt™ a future leader in eco-alt solutions"



The mission behind Kernt was impactful and meaningful. Their process of using naturally reoccurring materials to provide paper a new, eco-friendly future was powerful and full of promise. It was clear to me that they had a massive opportunity to utilise unique and vibrant imagery, combined with brand messaging and identity that truly told their story, to stand out and deliver on their promise of value.



Challenges :

▸ Build an identity that stood tall as an eco-alt company that produces a product usually associated with poor climate contribution.

▸ Merge the unique approach and solutions offered by the company seamlessly with their visual brand and imagery.

▸ Highlight the world-saving attitude of Kernt through brand messaging.

The Tactic

"Unique materials and product created baselines for absolute visual excellence."

I approached this project with the thought, it's not everyday you find a company who's hallmark materials are Hemp, Fungi and Stone. It presented a unique opportunity for high impact visuals that told their story. The company required a visual identity that was as unique as their products and what they use to produce them, I aimed for exactly that.

Our contribution

"The Kernt™ identity became a merge of eco-alt reliability and visuals that spark a question"

We equipped Good People NYC™ with a friendly brand identity with light and soft colours and approachable brand elements. We used iconography such as the smiley faces and love hearts to both convey a sense of New York spirit, alongside a highly approachable image. Our typography and design choices were all backed by the thought of ensuring that any member of the community, or passer by, was comforted and at ease. Good People NYC™ provide the space for people to grow, learn and unwind, their new brand matched that vision.
