TL;DR

Developed a user-centric web platform for Polisa Direct, streamlining the process of comparing and purchasing car insurance in the UK. Redesigned complex forms, integrated gamification, and established a unique brand identity to enhance user experience and accessibility, resulting in improved user engagement and scalability.

Project Background

Polisa Direct, a team of independent insurance experts, aimed to provide a simplified solution for Polish residents in the UK to easily compare and obtain the best car insurance offers. As part of the project, I took on roles ranging from project management and business discovery to design and implementation oversight.

The "Why?"

The challenge was to address the time-consuming and complex process of obtaining competitive car insurance offers. The existing market required users to navigate intricate forms, understand industry jargon, and grapple with language barriers. By creating an intuitive, one-stop platform, we aimed to empower users with the ability to effortlessly find and secure the best insurance deals.

The Process

The design process involved several key steps to achieve the project's goals. Two pivotal tools were redesigned: the interactive comparison form and the user-friendly landing page.
Interactive Comparison Form:
Leveraged industry insights to predetermine over 70% of form fields, reducing user input and time required.
Crafted an intuitive user journey with clear progress indicators and helpful tooltips to guide users through the process.
Utilized responsive design principles for accessibility across devices, ensuring a seamless experience.
User-Friendly Landing Page:
Designed a responsive landing page that conveyed the brand's trustworthiness and the platform's value proposition.
Ensured accessibility features for users with diverse needs, aligning with inclusivity principles.
Incorporated persuasive elements, such as concise copy and clear calls-to-action, to encourage user engagement.

Forms

Revamping the complex forms was a pivotal element of the project's success. By incorporating established user patterns and design best practices, users were empowered to navigate the process with ease. This led to a reduction in user drop-offs, increased form completion rates, and a more streamlined experience overall.

Branding

During the discovery phase, a strategic decision was made to create a new brand that aligned with the client's goals for future expansion. The brand identity was crafted to be universal, easy to remember, and distinct, setting the stage for growth into larger markets and diverse countries.

Gamification

To address user misinformation in the forms, gamification principles were employed. By utilizing "loss aversion," users were guided towards accurate answers that would result in cost-effective insurance. This psychological approach tapped into users' tendencies to avoid loss, leading them towards optimal choices.

The Challenge

The most significant challenge was creating a platform that effectively bridged the gap between insurance complexities and user-friendly accessibility. Navigating cultural, linguistic, and industry-specific barriers demanded a nuanced design approach. Additionally, ensuring data security and seamless integration with the insurance market required meticulous attention.

Summary

In collaboration with Polisa Direct, I spearheaded the creation of a user-centric car insurance comparison platform. Through strategic design decisions, including gamification, responsive forms, and a distinct brand identity, we addressed the industry's challenges. This resulted in enhanced user engagement, positive feedback, and the platform's rapid scalability. The project showcased the fusion of design expertise, industry insight, and a commitment to improving user experiences in the digital space.
