UX/UI Design for Easy Software: SaaS Platform for Scrap Metal Logistics
π‘ Challenge
Easy Software set out to build a SaaS web platform tailored for scrap metal collection and recycling companies. The system had to support a wide range of operational processes: from transport planning and container management to digital document handling and real-time updates from drivers.
The biggest challenge was designing a user-friendly interface for a complex domain with multiple user roles, workflows, and future scalability requirements β while maintaining clarity and simplicity for non-technical users.
π Solution
We designed a modular, scalable, and highly usable web application with an admin dashboard, planning interfaces, and a mobile-friendly driver panel. Our design aimed to simplify complex workflows like transport scheduling, company and vehicle management, and digital signature collection in the field.
Key Modules Designed:
Transport Planning Dashboard β Overview of scheduled/unplanned transports, assignment of trucks & drivers, and document handling.
Container & Company Management β CRUD-based views to manage physical assets and business relationships.
Truck & User Management β Tools for managing operational staff and logistics vehicles.
Driver Interface (mobile-first) β Streamlined screens for daily routes, container updates, and digital signatures.
Role-Based Access (RBAC) β Each user group (Admin, Operator, Driver) accesses only their relevant functionality.
All interfaces were designed with usability, clarity, and operational efficiency in mind.
π Process
Discovery & Industry Analysis:
We worked closely with stakeholders to understand the workflows, user roles, and operational constraints in the metal recycling industry.
UX Architecture & Wireframing:
Created modular flows for planned/unplanned transport tasks, CRUD operations, and driver check-ins β ensuring future compatibility with planned features like invoicing, material pricing, and contract management.
UI Design & Component System:
Delivered a clean, scalable Figma design system with standardized components, form logic, and visual consistency across all screens.
Developer Handoff & Support:
All modules were documented and exported with states, edge cases, and interaction notes for seamless implementation.
β Results
Clear, intuitive interface that reduced onboarding time for operational staff
Improved scheduling efficiency through real-time transport overviews
Drivers now operate with minimal training via mobile-first workflows
