Project Overview

As a Senior Product Designer and UX Researcher, I collaborated with a US-based startup to design an innovative Ed-tech application aimed at assisting students in selecting the most suitable career path. The platform also facilitated connections between students and relevant advisors to provide personalized guidance and support.
In this project, I led the design and research efforts to create a user-centric experience that addressed the diverse needs of students seeking career guidance. This involved conducting in-depth user research, creating intuitive user interfaces, and optimizing the platform's functionality to ensure a seamless user journey.

The Ed-tech application significantly transformed the way students approach career decision-making by providing them with access to comprehensive resources and personalized support from experienced advisors. By leveraging the platform, students gained clarity on their career goals, explored various pathways, and received tailored guidance to make informed decisions about their future.

Process Followed

User Research: I conducted extensive user research to understand the challenges and pain points faced by students when navigating career choices. This included surveys, interviews, and user testing sessions to gather insights into their preferences, aspirations, and decision-making processes.
Persona Development: Based on the research findings, I developed detailed user personas representing the diverse demographic and psychographic profiles of the target audience. This helped guide the design process and ensure that the application catered to the specific needs of different user segments.
Information Architecture & Wireframing: I created a structured information architecture and wireframes for the application, outlining the hierarchy of content and navigation flow. This served as a blueprint for the design and development teams to ensure coherence and usability in the final product.
Visual Design & Prototyping: Leveraging industry-standard design tools, I crafted visually appealing interfaces that aligned with the startup's brand identity and resonated with the target audience. Interactive prototypes were developed to simulate the user experience and gather feedback for iteration.
Advisor Matching Algorithm: One of the key features of the application was the advisor matching algorithm, which utilized machine learning techniques to match students with the most relevant advisors based on their interests, skills, and career aspirations. I collaborated with data scientists and engineers to design and refine this algorithm for accuracy and effectiveness.
Usability Testing & Iteration: Throughout the design and development process, I conducted usability testing sessions to gather feedback from students and advisors. This feedback was used to iterate on the design, refine the user experience, and address any usability issues identified.
By following this design process and using my expertise in UX research and product design, I contributed to the successful launch of an impactful Ed-tech application that empowered students to make informed career decisions and connect with mentors who could guide them on their journey.
