Overview

While the first rumours about a possible pandemic came up, people started a run on medical gear products like masks, sanitiser and stuff like that. Between December 2019 and January 2020 most of the available supply in pharmacies were completely sold out.
I identified this as an opportunity and due to my contacts in the eCommerce landscape I got in touch with a medical supplier. Since my supplier was located in China the entire project was extremely time sensitive because already in January there were rumours that the Chinese government was about to shutdown the exports.
Therefore I had to act quickly and started immediately mapping out a small project plan with the estimated amount of capital which is needed to start the project.

The Project Plan

I just created a basic workflow with the most important task:

Project Cost Estimation

The next step was the creation of an analysis of the investment I have to make to get this project running. I made a simple project cost estimation in Excel:

The Launch of my first eCommerce Business

The next step was a Zoom meeting with my supplier and shipping agent in China. We all quickly agreed to a deal and I put down the payment for the products. Within a week the samples arrived and after a quality check I made the final payment for the entire order.
Within three weeks the products arrived and luckily the order arrived complete without any kind of issues. I worked through the work flow I created and my very first eCommerce Business was ready for the launch end of January:

The project was running between January and December 2020. Due to the export restrictions from China I shutdown the operations after the last products were sold which was at the beginning of December 2020.
Within 4 weeks I created from scratch a profitable online shop which ended up making me an overall return of invest of 393,20% which isn't bad I guess. ;-)
