Designing a Senior-Friendly Learning Platform

I designed a learning platform aimed at enhancing the quality of life for seniors. Key aspects of the project included ensuring accessibility and effectively showcasing user progress.

As the senior population grows, many older adults struggle to stay mentally engaged and socially connected. Traditional learning platforms often fail to address their specific needs, making it difficult for them to access quality education and meaningful interactions. This lack of opportunities not only limits their intellectual growth but also increases feelings of isolation and loneliness. Seniors need a platform that provides easy access to learning, fosters community engagement, and supports both personal development and social well-being.

Accademia was designed as a user-friendly web app that empowers seniors through continuous learning and community building. The platform allows seniors to book courses, teach topics, and receive personalized coaching, creating an engaging and interactive experience.

As a freelance product designer, I contributed to the landing page, product conceptualization, main journey screen mockups, and usability testing for key flows. My focus was on designing an accessible and intuitive experience that makes it easy for seniors and instructors to navigate the platform. By improving course discovery, scheduling, and social interaction features, Accademia ensures that seniors can connect, learn, and thrive in a supportive online community.

88% of users found the platform easy to navigate, confirming that the interface is intuitive and accessible for seniors.

While 75% of users could find a course, there's room to enhance the search and filtering options to make course discovery even smoother.

77% of instructors found it easy to create a course, but feedback suggests improvements in structuring course descriptions and highlighting key details.

Seamless Onboarding Process: with 91% of users successfully signing in and setting up their profiles, the onboarding flow is effective. Minor tweaks could further enhance clarity for first-time users.
