The Challenge
I wanted to push the limits of Spline’s 3D engine — not just to make a model, but to capture the depth, reflection, and glow of a real gemstone. The goal was to create something both visually striking and technically refined, while showing what’s possible with light, material, and interaction inside Spline.
The Approach
Starting with a simple gem shape, I layered materials, lighting, and subtle luminescence to simulate translucency and depth. By experimenting with Spline’s real-time rendering and reflections, I crafted a piece that felt alive — glowing, refracting, and shifting as the user moved around it.
The Results
The project resonated widely, reaching 4,000+ likes on Spline’s community showcase and generating conversations around material realism and creative expression. It became not just a visual piece but proof of how Spline can be pushed to mimic physical beauty in digital space.
