Legal documents are long and full of terms people don't know, and LegalSimpli's conversion was low. I redesigned the form builder so every document becomes one question at a time, plus the dashboard and template library people come back to. Live at legalsimpli.com.
Project 004 · Overview: I owned the form builder, dashboard, template library and mobile, designed with Edwin Pérez.
The challenge: when the form feels like the document, people leave before they finish.
My four rules: one question per screen, always know where you are, check before you finish, a next step for every document.
The form builder: one question in the middle, every step on the left, a plain-language note on the right.
Review: the real document, with the skipped steps flagged before people finish.
Saving progress: a save prompt and nested steps, so nobody has to start over.
The dashboard: every document shows one clear status: complete it, sign it, or it's done.
Template library: forms grouped by life event, each explained in one line.
Mobile: the question, the review and the dashboard, with the main action at thumb reach.
