Career program at Pracuj.pl

During my time at Pracuj.pl I worked on many things. The main ones were a new landing page for the CV creator, user research with our UX researcher, and layouts for new screen sizes and foldable phones. Along the way I worked with a UX designer, developers and the rest of the team.
Role: Product Designer, UX/UI Designer Tools: Figma, Miro, Jira, Confluence, AI
Status: The designs are in developer handoff and the release is still in progress, so I can’t share links or screens yet. I’ll update this case study after launch.

CV creator landing page

This was my first project. The goal of the redesign was higher conversion: more visitors creating a CV and more applications sent.
I began with research. I went through other CV builders and a lot of landing pages, looking for a structure and ideas we could use. It took many iterations to settle on which sections the page needed. After that I focused on what we have to offer and which features the creator gives users.
The hero came first, and it tells people what the creator does right away. Most of my time after that went into the AI section and the features that only our creator has.
I also built a myths and facts section with the UX researcher. We looked at what users get stuck on or misunderstand, like whether a CV has to fit on one page or how ATS systems work, and wrote the section around those questions.
The design is with the developers now and we’re waiting for the release.

User research

I worked on user interviews with the UX researcher and wrote the notes from them in Miro. I also took part in a few sessions where we talked to participants about AI, voice features and how they look for jobs. We wanted to understand their problems and what technology they already use. We’re working on new features based on this, and they should appear on the site soon.
It was interesting to see the user’s perspective, especially how people move around a website or app. For a designer this matters in both UX and UI, because you see where people go, where they hesitate and what they skip.
I also learned that asking the right question helps you get to the goal of the session. A vague question gets a vague answer, and a specific one gives you something you can use.
Another thing I noticed is that a design idea or a new product idea doesn’t always match what users actually need. An idea can make sense for us and still miss the real problem.

New resolutions and foldable phones

This was one of the bigger tasks of the internship. I designed screens for new resolutions and foldable phones, and there were a lot of screens and options to go through. We also tested split view on mobile, tablet and web to see how it would work on each.
I mostly worked on the job listing, the offer page and filters. The goal was one layout that works for all the different job card types, and getting there took a lot of discussion. Many issues came up along the way. After each round of feedback I changed the screens and brought them back for another look.
The feedback I got from the team was positive. They said I listen carefully to what people tell me, that I come with good ideas, and that I think about users and the business, not only the design.
From this project I learned how to balance user needs with business goals, and how to iterate on a design based on team feedback.

Working with the team

Most of the work was solo, but I also worked closely with the UX designer, developers and other people on the team. I also took part in the workshops held during the internship.

What I took from it

I learned how to turn competitor research into page structure, and how to write page content based on what users misunderstand. I got practice taking notes in interviews and using them in design work. On the responsive side, I learned how split view and foldable screens affect list and offer layouts, and how to keep one layout consistent across different job cards. I also followed a project through to developer handoff for the first time.
