Project Overview

Chango is a crowdfunding and group contributions platform designed to empower individuals, organizations, and communities by connecting them through secure and convenient payment options. The platform’s goal is to help users come together to support causes that matter to them, focusing on reliability and ease of use.

Phase 1: Creative Direction & Research

1.1 Logo Font Brainstorming
I began by exploring various font styles to find one that conveyed trust, reliability, and warmth. Given Chango’s mission of collective action, we sought fonts that were modern yet had a sense of community. I reviewed multiple styles and selected a font that would resonate with users, ensuring it was professional but approachable.
1.2 Logo Concept & Sketching
The inspiration for Chango’s logo came from Ghanaian culture, particularly the Adinkra symbol “Boa me na me mmoa wo” (help me and let me help you), which reflects mutual support. I sketched several concepts incorporating the symbol’s interconnected arrows to represent the core of Chango’s mission—connecting people and fostering collective giving. This idea was developed further to reflect a sense of inclusivity and community.

Phase 2: Logo Design

2.1 Logo Illustration
I transformed the selected concept into a polished logo, featuring a stylized version of the Adinkra symbol with multiple arrows forming a cohesive unit, giving the visual effect of a box. This represented Chango’s role as a central hub for collecting contributions. The clean, modern lines and symmetrical design convey the platform’s reliability and structure while reflecting its cultural roots.

Phase 3: Visual Design

3.1 Primary Color Palette & Typography
For the color palette, I chose warm, earthy tones to reflect Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while ensuring the brand felt contemporary and trustworthy. The colors, paired with the selected typography, created a balanced, professional aesthetic that would appeal to both users seeking to contribute and those in need of support.
3.2 Logo Motion Design
To add an engaging dynamic to Chango’s digital presence, I created a subtle logo animation. The animation depicts the arrows rotating gently, symbolizing the flow of resources and energy within the community. This motion design was used on the website and within the app to provide a lively yet harmonious user experience.
3.3 Pattern Design
I created geometric patterns inspired by the Adinkra symbol, which were used across various branding materials such as the website background, app interface, and promotional materials. These patterns reinforce Chango's cultural identity and create a visually cohesive experience.

Phase 4: Real-Life Branding Application

Live Website
The website was designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind. It serves as the primary point of information, providing an overview of Chango’s mission, features, and how users can get involved in crowdfunding and group contributions. I ensured the website was intuitive, accessible, and informative, with clear calls to action guiding users to sign up, learn more, and start contributing.
Brand Design Presentation
I provided a comprehensive brand design presentation to Chango, showcasing how the logo, colors, patterns, and visual assets worked together to create a cohesive brand identity. The presentation highlighted how these elements would be applied across both online and offline platforms, ensuring a consistent user experience.
App UI/UX Design
The mobile app was designed with a strong focus on usability, ensuring a seamless user experience from browsing to making contributions. I created an intuitive navigation structure and smooth user flows to allow users to easily create campaigns, donate, and share their causes with others. The app’s design incorporated the brand’s visual elements, including the Adinkra-inspired icons and color scheme, to create a cohesive experience that is both functional and aligned with the brand’s mission.

Phase 5: Client Aftercare

Client Testimonial
After the successful launch of Chango’s website and app, the client expressed their satisfaction with the branding and design process. Chango’s team highlighted how the logo and visual identity truly captured the essence of their platform and mission, helping to elevate their credibility in the market. The user-friendly website and app experience significantly enhanced the overall platform, driving interest and engagement. Chango was confident that the cohesive branding and intuitive design would help them achieve their vision of fostering a new era of group contributions.
