Markit is a mobile marketplace concept designed to connect freelance service providers with local demand. As the lead designer, I was responsible for creating an MVP prototype to validate the idea and support initial fundraising efforts. The goal was to deliver a user-friendly, mobile-first experience that engaged both task posters and service providers.

The project required designing an intuitive app experience that stood out in a competitive marketplace. It needed to provide seamless onboarding, task posting, service browsing, and payment processes while also delivering a compelling pitch deck to secure seed funding.

I mapped out core user flows and designed key screens for the MVP:

Onboarding Process: A simple flow guiding users to identify as either task posters or service providers.

Task Posting: A step-by-step interface for posters to list tasks with curated categories or custom options.

Service Provider Dashboard: A streamlined dashboard for providers to browse and filter tasks by category, location, price, and other criteria.

Communication & Payments: Integrated in-app messaging, alerts, booking, and payment systems for seamless coordination.

The visual design featured a clean, approachable aesthetic to foster trust and reinforce the app’s local community focus. I iterated on wireframes based on client feedback and conducted usability testing to validate core flows before finalising the MVP.

The MVP prototype was highly praised by the client and instrumental in pitching Markit to investors. It effectively communicated the vision and value proposition while receiving positive feedback for its user-centric approach and polished design. Though still in pre-launch, the MVP has validated the concept, reduced risk, and generated excitement among stakeholders.

Designing Markit’s MVP showcased my ability to create intuitive mobile experiences that balance simplicity with functionality. Through rapid prototyping and user testing, I helped lay the foundation for a product poised for success in the competitive service marketplace space.
