Kredential UX Design for a Blockchain Credentialing Platform (EBSI)

Designed Holder & Enterprise wallets for a cross platform, cutting onboarding time by 25% and QA issues by 25%.
Kredentials

Making blockchain credentials feel human

Kredential is a credentialing platform that helps students and universities issue, manage, and verify verifiable credentials (VCs) in a secure, decentralized way, built for the EBSI framework. The platform has two sides: a Holder Wallet for students to store, share, and verify credentials, and an Enterprise Wallet for universities to issue, approve, and revoke them, designed for clarity and scale while staying fully EBSI-compliant.
Holder wallet - My credentials

My role

UI/UX Designer

Duration

2023 to 2024

The challenge

Decentralized identity and verifiable credentials are technically complex concepts. The challenge was designing an experience that felt secure and trustworthy to students with no blockchain background, while giving institutions a compliant, scalable tool to manage credentials at volume.

My process

Joined a full day workshop at University of Maribor (FERI) on decentralized identity to ground the design in real academic use cases
Researched competitors (Accredible, SmartCertificate, TrueLayer) and reviewed EBSI documentation, DID methods, and trust registries
Mapped user flows and scenarios in FigJam, covering DID login, first time verification, credential issuance, and employer verification requests
Designed a full UI system for both wallets, prioritizing accessibility and visual hierarchy
Created a custom mascot to add warmth and trust to the Holder Wallet's onboarding experience
Led manual QA across both platforms, testing edge cases and logging issues in Jira to ensure the build matched the design
Holder wallet - The mascot

The result

25% faster onboarding walkthroughs during user testing, driven by a redesigned onboarding flow with the mascot and clearer visual examples
20% fewer user questions during internal demo sessions
25% reduction in QA issues after refining edge case handling (empty states, error messages, credential status flows) across both wallets
