The problem

With a total of 237,037 private cars in Mauritius (as of June 2020 as per statistics), the most environmental-friendly and less costly way to address these problems, is to encourage carpooling on a national level. We are introducing “Molift”, a national carpooling mobile application.

The process

I conducted thorough research to understand how people traveled and commuted around the island. I analyzed the behaviors of people when traveling, taking into consideration their pain points and what could be improved. The team also benchmarked other platforms and apps worldwide that enabled people to book a ride and be a driver.
Using the research insights and best practices, I created two personas - the driver and the rider. They then proceeded to create wireframes for the rider and driver experiences, ensuring that the app's design was user-friendly and accessible. I went through several rounds of iterations, always focusing on simplifying the design and making the user experience more efficient.

The personas

The riders
I mapped their journey on the application and how they will interact with the driver. The riders will create their profile, set their destination, select a driver, make a payment and wait for the day/time of their ride.
The driver
After creating their profile on the platform, the driver would be able to review the booking they’ve received. They can set that they are on their way and the rider will get notify that their driver is coming.

The outcome

The driver's experience in-app when accepting a booking. I didn't want to focus on the customer’s side as there are a lot of examples out there already doing this will, but visibility over the driver's view.
