I created the web site, including all direct response sales copy and graphical elements, for the brain health-focused web site RemedyOfChoice.com/heragelessbrain/
This is another personal project of mine. The product grew out of a realization that when it comes to brain health the challenges encountered by the two genders are utterly distinct, and it is women who get the short end of the stick.
Project Goals
After creating the brain health program Ageless Brain for a client I decided there was a need to develop an entirely separate program that focused on the needs of women. I called it Her Ageless Brain, which I implemented as a membership program.
To support the promotion of it I needed to:
Write a sales letter
Create a quiz to act as a list-building lead magnet
Develop a follow up email sequence for prospects, and
Develop an email sequence to nurture the buyers
Writing The Sales Letter
The remarkable thing about women's brain health is that it is actually a fascinating topic. And remarkably complex. The likelihood that the average woman will ever get to learn the nuances of why it is that her brain is so susceptible to neurodegenerative disease in the latter part of her life is practically nil.
But just because I find the topic fascinating does not mean the average woman is also going to find it worthy of her attention.
So writing a sales letter for a health-related "preventative strategies" product is not the least bit easy.
However, self-interest is a good reason to stay on the page if you can just get across the idea that there really is a problem here that women ought to be paying attention.
It also turns out that hormonal health, a topic which women pay far more attention to than they do to what might be happening with their brain, is a critical factor in determining later life risk of brain disease.
So the letter starts with common problems women encounter due to "unbalanced hormones" and transitions to the connection of symptom intensity and severity to the risk of brain disease.
But facts, in and of themselves, are not enough to keep people reading a sales letter like this one. That's why I bring in the personality of a leading brain researcher, a woman who has made it her life's work to alleviate the risk to women of dementia and other forms of brain disease.
I use her passion for the science to underscore its value and prepare the reader to learn more about the program I have designed to help them maintain their brain health indefinitely.
I them spell out the 6 requirements of a good women's brain health program and proceed to show how Her Ageless Brain satisfies all of them...
Developing The Menopause Persona Quiz
The age bracket during which it is highly beneficial for women to begin taking actions to protect their brain spans from about the age of 40 years to the age of 60 years.
This is when changes in the structure of a woman's brain are taking place without her knowledge and, depending on many factors, can initiate neurodegenerative conditions in the later years.
But of course, this age bracket is also the one that defines the transition from the fertile to the non-fertile state. In other words, it is the age range over which menopause takes place.
For this reason I named my quiz, which evaluates the hormones most likely to be causing hormonal symptoms, the Menopause Persona Quiz.
The algorithm used in the quiz was taken from a well-known hormone researcher who went on to develop one of the largest hormone testing laboratories in the United States. So it is not based on guesswork, but the laboratory work of a fastidious chemist - which is why I trust in it as a tool for the rough diagnosis of hormonal influence.
The quiz received input on 40+ yes/no questions relating to common hormonal symptoms and spits out a short list of hormones which are known to cause those symptoms when something is off-kilter in the body of a woman.
Follow Up Emails For Quiz Takers
A length series of emails was written to promote the Her Ageless Brain product, one of which is reproduced below. It address the issue of estrogen dysfunction in the symptomatic woman.
Sample Email Message #1
SUBJECT LINE:
So, you're menopause persona #%PERSONAID%. What now?
BODY:
Hey %FIRSTNAME%, thanks for taking my quiz to determine your menopause persona.
Yes, it all comes down to a number!
Yours is %PERSONAID%.
Now, if everything went according to plan you will have paused on the quiz results page and tried to figure out just what that number means for you.
I'll provide you with a link to that page in a moment in case you need to revisit it...
That's where you'll find clues as to any potential hormone imbalances you could be dealing with.
The possible exception would be if you happen to have been blessed with persona type #1, or Ideal Menopause.
Yes, this persona typically (but not always) describes the lucky lady who manages to sail through her menopause years with barely a wink or a nod to the assault taking place on her reproductive biology.
Never mind that her ovaries are going through significant hormone-disabling changes.
The Ideal Menopause woman is often impervious to it all.
She is asymptomatic.
Of course, this does not mean her marriage is not on the rocks, or that her grown-up kids aren't about to abandon her and head off to college, or that her career doesn't feel stalled and she is wondering if she made a wrong turn somewhere along the way...
After all, this IS midlife we're talking about.
The crises begin to add up, whether or not you happen to be rocking a bod with a to-die-for hormonal profile.
You know - like Nicole Kidman in any episode of "Big Little Lies" or, let's face it, anything she has ever appeared in.
If any woman was destined to blessed with Ideal Menopause you know it would be her!
Here's the good news. Even if you're not busting out in hormonal bliss right now you can get there.
In the coming days I am going to offer you some valuable tips designed to help with that.
These are going to be especially useful for the woman who is committed to finding long-term relief from the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause.
I'll also suggest something a lot more immediate for the woman who is ready to see significant changes in the way she is feeling within the next few weeks.
So be on the lookout for a few more messages from me on this topic.
If your quiz results revealed a potential imbalance in one or more of the 4 major hormones associated with the midlife transition then I will be addressing each imbalance separately.
I'll explain what you can do to restore balance, but without needing to resort to any direct hormonal intervention.
Then, after we have come up with a plan to tame those unruly sensations playing havoc with your life, I am also going to take the time to alert you to a much bigger problem than a hormone rebellion.
A problem that may be on the horizon for any woman who didn't score a #1 in the menopause persona lottery.
Here's where you can find your quiz results if you have not already seen them:
[LINK TO RESULTS PAGE]
You'll find information on that page relating to Menopause Persona #%PERSONAID%, which is your persona.
P.S. I'll tell you shortly more about myself and what got me interested in the hormonal strife that affects 4 out of every 5 women during the midlife transition.
I suspect you will be surprised at what I have to tell you about that, because it has almost nothing to do with your ovaries and practically everything to do with your brain.
