I helped Retinica turn cutting-edge medical AI into a story investors could see, feel, and believe. From early 3D device concepts to investor decks shown at Web Summit, this was design-as-translation: complex tech into a compelling narrative.

Context & Challenge
Retinica developed AI to detect and diagnose vision impairments faster and more accurately than traditional systems. The challenge: how do you explain deep neural net diagnostics to people who’ve never touched AI — and get them excited to fund it?
They had the science, the early traction, even a physical prototype in development. What they lacked was a deck that could pull all this together without overwhelming or underselling. My role was to create a visual narrative with clarity, confidence, and just enough magic.
Solution & Strategy
Started with mood and palette: clinical grey-blue tones with clean gradients to suggest medical trust
Built a full 3D visual concept of their diagnostic device from references (no product photos available yet)
Created minimalist diagrams and interface mockups to visualize the AI workflow
Translated dense medical metrics into digestible visuals with investor focus
Structured the deck into a 3-act investor story: Problem → Innovation → Market Fit → Impact
Applied Midjourney for early vision board work; final polish in Figma with layered assets
An elegant grey-and-blue palette provided an impression of medical precision and clearness right from the beginning. This moderate range of colors avoided unnecessary details, leaving investors with a focused, clinical impression which was in line with Retinica’s ophthalmological solutions.
Retinica’s AI produces complex datasets full of diagnostic findings. We turned this dense information into unique minimalistic graphics and user-friendly data visualizations.
The content of the deck was logically narrated and illustrated how the Retinica’s faster speed and improved accuracy would disrupt the old diagnostic processes.
Once eventually revealed, this polished design easily transferred Retinica’s complicated innovation into an understandable and compelling investor story that was fueled by their innovative spirit. Comprehension was made seamless – cutting-edge AI breakthroughs converted into core advantages by a revolutionary, crystal-clear visual language.
Results & Impact
Deck featured at Web Summit in investor demo sessions
Retinica later became part of a state-supported healthcare initiative (non-public details)
Multiple requests followed from med-tech startups asking to “make it look like Retinica”
Internal team adopted our visuals for grant applications and institutional outreach

Why It Worked
Health-tech audiences are hard to align: doctors, AI engineers, and investors all think in different languages. My job was to unify them visually. Instead of relying on heavy jargon or flat icons, we used clarity, story logic, and visual precision to make everyone feel this tech was real — and investable.
