SOYE CANDLES: E-COMMERCE REVENUE TRANSFORMATION

The Problem

Soye Candles was stuck at $10K monthly revenue despite strong product-market fit and loyal customers. The founder was drowning in manual operations, managing spreadsheet inventory, handling customer service via Instagram DMs, creating invoices by hand, and spending 60+ hours per week on tasks that didn't scale. Every hour spent on operations was an hour not spent making candles or growing the business. The bottleneck wasn't marketing; it was operational chaos preventing scale.

What I Did

I designed and built a complete Shopify automation system from the ground up. This included an optimized sales funnel with strategic upsells and cross-sells, automated inventory sync that eliminated spreadsheet management, abandoned cart recovery sequences capturing lost revenue, integrated email marketing flows for retention, and streamlined checkout with one-click purchasing. I also implemented customer segmentation for personalized marketing and built analytics dashboards to track what actually mattered, conversion rates, average order value, and customer lifetime value.

Where It Got Messy

Three weeks in, we discovered the founder had been fulfilling orders in a completely different sequence than customers expected. Her Instagram followers wanted certain scents that weren't prioritized in the initial store layout. We had to pause the launch, restructure the entire product catalog based on actual demand data, and rebuild the navigation. Then Shopify's inventory API threw errors during high-traffic moments. I had to write custom scripts to handle sync conflicts and prevent overselling. What should've been a 3-week project stretched to 5 weeks of debugging edge cases at 2 AM.

Results

Revenue jumped from $10K to $45K MRR in 90 days (350% growth). Operational costs dropped 30%. The founder's time commitment went from 60 hours per week to 8 hours per week. Cart abandonment recovery captured 22% of lost revenue. Average order value increased 18%.
