Booking.com) for bookings and paying brutal 18-25% commissions on every reservation. They had zero direct bookings because their website was generic, offered no unique value compared to OTAs, had no integrated booking system, wasn't optimized for airport hotel searches, and provided zero reason for guests to book directly instead of through the OTAs that dominated their market.
