The challenge
Kryptrex is a cryptocurrency trading platform serving users who move real money across volatile markets. When I joined, the product had a fragmented interface, unclear information hierarchy, and no structured design system meaning every new feature created new inconsistencies. Users were confused. Engineers were guessing. The product was leaking trust at every touchpoint.
What I owned
· End to end product design: from discovery research through to engineering handoff across mobile and desktop
· Design system architecture: built a token-based system with auto-layout and full component documentation
· UX research practice: introduced structured research cycles, usability testing, and A/B testing
· KYC and onboarding flows: complete redesign of verification and first-time user experience
· OTC trading interface: rebuilt the multi-tier interface with clearer hierarchy and reduced cognitive load
· Design/Dev handoff: standardised with tokens, removing inconsistency and reducing back-and-forth
Impact
· → 41% Reduction in user confusion after rebuilding the OTC multi-tier interface
· → 32% Increase in KYC verification completion through redesigned onboarding
· → 35% Fewer design–dev inconsistencies after token-based design system rollout
· → 28% Improvement in task completion time across dashboards and trading flows
· → 17% Conversion improvement on crypto purchase paths via A/B testing
· → 40% Reduction in product ambiguity through structured UX research cycles
· → 18% Reduction in usability issues after accessibility and contrast improvements
· → 12% Drop in support tickets after clearer interaction states and error handling
What I learned
Designing for financial products means designing for trust. Every ambiguous label, every slow interaction, every unclear error state erodes confidence in the product. At Kryptrex I learned to treat clarity as a non-negotiable — not just a UX preference. I also learned how to build systems that scale: a design system isn't overhead, it's the foundation that lets you move fast without breaking things.
