Case Study: From In-Game Fantasy to Physical Collectible
“Make it feel like it came from Night City.”
That was the brief. And that’s exactly what I built.
In collaboration with CD Projekt Red and Lumiverse, we created a futuristic merchandise line inspired by the cybernetic world of Cyberpunk 2077.
The centerpiece? Light-reactive tech stickers using real OLED circuitry. Designed not just to be admired - but activated, touched, and collected.
I was in charge of product design, packaging, and marketing storytelling - shaping the entire experience from unboxing to social reveal.
Phase 1: Product Design & Tech Integration
We started by prototyping collectible stickers that used real electronic circuits, turning 2D designs into animated, interactive merch. Each one lights up using thin, flexible OLEDs, making it feel like stolen tech from the Cyberpunk universe.
Phase 2: Packaging Design
The packaging had to deliver the same thrill: minimal, sleek, and transparent.
I created a custom, semi-clear, envelope-style sleeve that lets the product glow through, giving fans a sneak peek before even opening it. Every edge, fold, and material was chosen to feel futuristic, while staying functional and production-friendly.
I created illustrations inspired by circuitry and placed them on the back of the packaging. These graphics clarify each product's functionality while enhancing a futuristic tech aesthetic.
Phase 3: Marketing & Brand Storytelling
To bring it full circle, we developed visuals and messaging that made these items feel like black-market drops from Night City.
🎞️ High-contrast, cinematic visuals - moody, glowing, built for scroll-stopping impact
🧩 A focus on collectibility+ embedded tech - each piece felt rare, like a found object with function
🌌 Social teasers as “world-bridging” artifacts - creating the illusion these were smuggled out of the game itself
The strategy wasn’t to explain the merch. It was to immerse people in the feeling of owning a piece of the game.
🧠 Product storytelling, brand strategy, and launch visuals
🚀 Social media asset creation + collector-focused narrative
This wasn’t just merchandise.
It was lore you can hold in your hands.
