Linko is a chill puzzle game where players navigate simple mazes while supporting a cat shelter through donations. It also offers the option to skip ads, blending gaming fun with a meaningful cause. However, the existing monetization strategy fell short in terms of engagement and contribution flexibility.
The Challenge:
Monetization Issues: The donation process was too rigid, limiting user engagement and potential contributions.
Ad Experience: Users wanted more control over ad interruptions, but the current system lacked flexibility.
My Approach:
Diverse Donation Options: Created a system that allowed players to choose their donation amounts and customize the number of ads they could skip.
Empowered Contributions: Crafted engaging and inclusive microcopy to make users feel in control and emotionally connected to their choices.
User-Centric Design: Collaborated with the design team to ensure the new options were seamlessly integrated into the UI without disrupting gameplay.
Results:
Increased Donations: The personalized donation options led to a measurable uptick in contributions to the cat shelter.
Improved User Satisfaction: Players appreciated the freedom to choose, which fostered a stronger emotional connection to the game and its cause.
Enhanced Ad Experience: By offering ad-skipping options tied to donations, user frustration decreased while maintaining revenue streams.
Why It Matters:
This project highlights my ability to align user experience with monetization goals, creating solutions that benefit both the players and the business. Through empathetic and engaging UX writing, I helped make charitable giving part of a fun and fulfilling gaming experience.
