Atrium — Embedded Product Design for AI Relationship Intel

Atrium is an AI-powered relationship intelligence platform — a smart inbox and personal CRM that helps investors, founders, and operators organise, nurture, and remember their professional networks. It aggregates email, calendar, and contact data, then enriches it with AI to surface pre-meeting briefs, auto-grouped contacts, and network analytics. Refract was engaged as the embedded product design team.

Relationship intelligence sits at the intersection of CRM, email client, and AI assistant — a convergence that creates real UX complexity. Too much data overwhelms the user; too little defeats the purpose. Every screen needs to feel like a trusted chief of staff surfacing what matters, not another dashboard generating noise.

Atrium serves investors tracking deal flow, founders managing advisor relationships, and operators coordinating stakeholders — each with different information hierarchies and usage patterns. The design had to flex across all of them while staying unified and calm.

We designed the core platform UX/UI — inbox, action items, messages, and onboarding flow — alongside full mobile responsive design. A micro-interaction and animation system defines hover states, dismiss/snooze/done behaviours, and button visibility logic across the product, with interaction decisions implemented directly on the live platform, embedded in Atrium's engineering workflow.
