Laurent Altieri | Copywriting

The founder of the small Italian leather handbag company, Laurent & Altieri, requested an update to the brand story and website content. It has been over five years since the website content was first created, and she wanted to better articulate her passion and brand differentiation.

I led a discovery meeting with her to learn more about the brand, it's inception and who it serves and how. This insight provided greater detail for me to incorporate in the brand story. I also took into consideration her competition as well the details that go into leather craftsmanship.

I delivered a written draft of her overall brand story, an updated "Our Story" description, and updates to her main landing page and Instagram bio. She was happy with the deliverables, however I confirmed that I'd provide a final draft if any adjustments were necessary.

Laurent & Altieri is a New York City based leather goods brand founded in 2016 by two friends, Genevieve Laurent and Michel Altieri. 

Laurent & Altieri’s collection of genuine Italian leather handbags are determined by whether they can be easily used throughout the day, while elegant enough for evening wear. The handbags feature original styling from Florence, Italy and have the appearance, sophistication and design that have traditionally distinguished Italian leather makers. 

Genevieve Laurent was born and raised in New York City. She has a PHD in Pharmacy and has had a long and successful career in the medical field. Being brought up in the big city, she has always been hard working and she has always carried a unique purse to support her lifestyle. When she was 17 years old, she discovered a leather store on Bleecker street and was in awe of the bohemian style leather handbags in the shop window. This inspired her passion for rare designs and leather goods. It wasn’t until she reached her 40’s that she was able to comfortably afford luxury purses from labels such as Prada, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. She came from humble beginnings, and being able to attain these luxury products grew her confidence and self-worth. 

A bag is an accomplishment and says a lot about who you are. However, she realized that she didn’t need labels to prove her success and worthiness. As she forges through life, she recognizes that the kind of handbags that emanate her individuality and inner power are those that are multi-functional, durable and appealing to the eye. Leather typically meets these requirements. Genevieve’s intention now is to connect with other city-bred professionals and dreamers. She wants to give them the opportunity to access authentic high-quality leather and trendy designs that will complement who they are. 

Michel Altieri is based in both New York City and Milan. Michel is an artist, best known for his musical theater performances in Italy. Together, he and Genevieve have formed a true partnership of art, passion, creation, humor and friendship. Michel is a dear friend who further inspired Genevieve’s love for Italy and introduced her to the artisanal leather industry that Laurent & Altieri upholds to. Michel’s keen eye for beauty and the essence of Italian culture come through in the curation of the brand’s leather goods and overall inspiration.
