Most people think a shadow is just a shadow. Study a real sundial: the shadow isn't a drop shadow or a perspective projection. It has personality. It's alive in a way digital shadows never are. time.connectio.com.au (http://time.connectio.com.au) uses real astronomical calculations to track the sun's position relative to you. Latitude, longitude, altitude. Shadow direction, length, softness, and colour temperature all shift exactly as they would in real life. The numerals have weight. The penumbra is properly soft. The whole piece breathes with the day/night cycle. Sunlight on your wall by day. Moonlight mode at night. Cast it to a 4K display and it becomes a meditative object in your home. I built this to explore beauty and truth in digital mediums. And partly because I'm a little unhinged when something captures my attention.

Brand in a week for Stripes x Dots - a children's brand that creates bold, simple tools to help little humans understand big feelings and navigate everyday moments with confidence. The design challenge was building a visual world that could make emotions feel approachable and joyful - something toddlers are drawn to and parents actually want in their home. Bold type, expressive emotion icons, and a playful-but-purposeful aesthetic carried across every touchpoint - completed in just a week. The full suite spans brand identity, emotion cards, and stickers - a cohesive system that makes big feelings feel a little less big.

Of a Feather - Brand Identity & Visual World Of a Feather is built around the idea that the right people always find each other - a poetic twist on "birds of a feather," where belonging and connection run through every element of the brand. Strategy and tone of voice came first, then colour, typography, and the part that made this project unforgettable: custom Australian bird characters, full of personality and warmth, that brought the brand to life in a way no logo alone ever could. From there, a full universe - logos, social media, credentials deck, merch, and website. When strategy and personality work together properly, the result speaks for itself.

Day 12/30 of my hero section challenge. Another day of prioritising the visuals and imagining a company that doesn't exist. I promise the next one is a tech brief with barely any imagery at all, I've leaned hard on beautiful photography for twelve days straight. Concept: a mycelium materials company producing leather, packaging and foam grown from fungal networks. The design deliberately inverts the category's defaults; biotech branding tends toward dark, clinical and electric blue, so this one goes warm and botanical, with a subtle looping video of spores drifting and mushrooms emerging. The copy pulls hard the other way: plain, technical, B2B-direct, anchored by two concrete numbers instead of sustainability adjectives. Twelve briefs across travel, food retail, personal branding, events, landscape architecture, pet services, hospitality, coffee, lighting, wellness, restaurants and now biomaterials. 12 down, 18 to go. Built on the Viper template by Westhill Studio, adapted and customised by me. Imagery and video generated with AI.

Day 11 of 30: expanding the challenge from single heroes to a full landing page. Concept: Sal & Lima, a taqueria and margarita bar. Built entirely from watercolour illustration. Torn-paper panel edges, a hand-painted script headline, and a four-colour palette of cream, chilli red, lime and warm brown. The upper sections lead with illustration; the menu deliberately switches to clean, legible type, because decoration belongs where it seduces and clarity belongs where people are choosing what to order. Open to landing page and hero work, especially for hospitality brands that need personality rather than polish. Template credits: Grooic LLC Illustrations generated with AI.

Day 10/30 of my hero section challenge. Today: Ofelia, a spa in Bali. → The wordmark sits at eye level, spanning the full width, cutting across the middle of the space. Here the type claims the room, and because the interior is symmetrical and calm, it can take the weight. → A high-contrast serif against soft plaster. The architecture is all curves and matte texture, so the type brings the only sharp edges in the frame. Contrast without adding a single element. 10 down, 20 to go. A third of the way. Template by Hariom, adapted and customized by me. Interior imagery generated with AI.

Day 9/30 of my hero section challenge. It's been a while. I said I'd go daily and then didn't post for a stretch, work got busy and the challenge was the first thing to slip. No excuses, just picking it back up. The point was never a perfect streak; it was the reps. Today: Faye, a handmade lighting studio. → Three pieces, one room. The wall, the light, the whole environment stays fixed across all three slides, only the lamp changes. It turns a carousel into something closer to standing in a studio while someone swaps the fitting above you. → The product imagery had to be built for consistency. Same plaster wall, same cord, same bulb, same warm falloff, so the three read as one collection rather than three unrelated shots. 9 down, 21 to go.
