Hey Contra fam 🐐✨
Real talk question: is it actually better to land solid, long-term clients here compared to the endless Upwork connects grind?
I’ve been floating in freelance limbo for almost 6 months now with only breadcrumb projects, and honestly? I’m going stir-crazy 🫠. While some people dream of endless free time, having no work is eating me alive. I’m the type of person who genuinely thrives working 24/7, building things, solving problems, and feeling truly needed and impactful 🛠️🔥.
Here’s my existential crisis: my toolkit is packed, but my focus is all over the place 🐐💨:
💻 Web Design & Development: I build clean, functional websites (Figma, Webflow, UI/UX).
🎬 Video & Visual Storytelling: I craft narratives that keep eyes glued to the screen.
🤖 AI Video Production: Not generic AI slop, but purposeful, usable AI video tailored for real products and brands.
I love it all, but right now I feel like a jack of all trades stuck at the starting line.
So please: GRILL ME 🐐🥩🔥
Should I package this as an all-in-one "Web + Video + AI" stack, or pick ONE lane and double down?
How did you land your first real momentum-building client on Contra?
What’s the biggest rookie mistake people make on their Contra portfolios?
Don't hold back — roast my positioning, give me tough love, or drop some wisdom below. I’m all ears! 👇🐐
Hey ma'am! Hold on there and breathe 🙂
I understand how tough and complicated it's to get client but once you are able to secure one or two, be rest assured that you are already on the way.
And yeah there's alot of opportunities to be unlocked here on contra believe me, this...
Thanks a lot for the motivation and advice! Keep building indeed 💪♥️

We just made this for a client in a day. Shooting it would've meant weeks of planning and about 10x the budget.
The concept is the asset. It's a structure built to repeat: new characters, a new situation, and the same payoff every time.
I come from production and I still think real shoots are some of the most valuable work we do.
A founder telling their story, a documentary, an event that happened in a real place on a real day. As AI content fills the feed, that stuff is going to stand out more.
Everything else is changing fast. When producing a concept gets this cheap and fast, the hard part (and valuable part) is deciding what to make and why.
Deciding what's worth making matters more now that generating is cheap. Good take.
Mary Jane — Bar Stool Product Landing Page 🪑✨
A refined product landing page concept for a modern furniture brand, built around one statement piece
The design combines warm neutral tones, oversized typography, and editorial layouts to give the bar stool a premium, design-focused feel
Special attention was given to:
• Product-first composition
• Clean editorial typography
• Warm premium aesthetic
• Product details and features
• Video and 3D presentation
• Responsive mobile layout
The result is a simple, elegant experience that keeps the product at the center while giving the brand a distinctive visual character 🤎
Nice work
Vintage Map Ad — Two Creative Directions
I’ve been testing two ways to reveal the product.
In one version, the space builds around it, creating a more magical feel.
In the other, I went for a more restrained approach — pulling back to reveal the setting without any transformation.
Which one would you go for?
