I just launched the second part of the Northbound Case Study, the first one talked about the creation of the Design System ready for code, but this step goes even further.
As a Design Engineer I shipped the same DS to code using Claude, closing the boundaries between design and development. Allowing us as designers manage your product's Design System directly without the back and forth with the Development team.
Shipping the same DS to code is the part most teams struggle to close. Did the token structure hold up once it hit real components, or did it need to change?
That’s a great question, the token structure didn’t need any changes because everything is thought and created with intention.
That level of foresight on tokens is rare honestly. Most teams I've seen end up patching the structure mid build once real content breaks their assumptions. Is that mostly experience pattern matching for you at this point, or do you deliberately stress test edge cases before locking names and values?
This is really interesting. Closing that gap between design and development can save so much back and forth.
Exactly! You can save a lot of time when you work with a devteam and that translates directly to saving money also
