If AI can generate beautiful illustrations in seconds… why would you still draw one yourself? 🤨
I'm currently working on a packaging project that I can't share just yet, but one part of the process stood out: the hero element is a custom vector illustration, drawn by hand from the very first sketch. 🍃
Could AI have generated something similar? Probably.
However, to me, the value sits in the creative decisions behind every line, shape, and detail. That's what gives a brand its own personality and how to keep the design craft still alive.
What part of your creative process should ✨always✨ keep a human touch?

It looks great. AI can help generate illustrations, but it doesn’t replace expertise. A strong result still depends on the designer’s understanding of prompting, composition, and visual design. An experienced designer knows how to guide the AI to achieve a much better outcome.

The colors feel soft and calm, while there’s something elegant yet almost primal in the composition. It’s really beautiful.

I think you are right about the human touch, especially in illustrations. By the way, thus isamazing!
It would be a nice touch to include the gold lines on the package.
Thank you for sharing.

Great work! I love the human touch in your designs. Personally, I believe human-crafted design is more effective, adds extra value, and should definitely command higher prices. It should be the standard in our industry.

I agree with you! Thanks for the insight

AI makes disaster, but to brainstorm ideas and help you out when you’re burnt out can help you alot.

A truly well asked question, I believe design and art, for years to come should remain hand drawn whether it's on paper or through screen. The decisions behind a every line was dictate by a very driven individuals that truly understand what they/him/her are/is doing. AI, would never replace this.

Absolutely. AI can accelerate the process, but the human eye still makes the meaningful creative decisions. The concept, intention, restraint, and those small imperfections are often what give a piece its character.
For me, the part that should always remain human is the creative...

Absolutely. Some parts of the creative process should always stay human. AI can assist with the idea, but the creative direction and intention still come from us.
That said, I’d love to bring that illustration to life with an AI video if you’re open to it. Feel free to DM me.

Starting from sketch is often the least visible part of the work, but it is where the visual language gets its logic.

Absolutely agree. AI can accelerate creativity, but the human perspective, intention, and craft are what give a design its unique personality. ✨

Yess!! Totally agree. Generative AI from a to a is a Nono for me. However, using ai to streamline repetitive mundane tasks that would’ve otherwise taken hours? Hell yes, let’s work with technology yet simultaneously protect our artistry ❤️

Because art was never valuable simply for the image at the end. It's about the message it sends.
A machine can draw from an almost unimaginable reservoir of visual information, recombining styles, shapes, compositions, colors, and conventions at your request. What it cannot...

Cuz AI generated stuff still feels soulless

For me, it's definitely the story-driven design decisions and precise vector craftsmanship. AI can give you a pretty image, but it doesn't understand why a curve sits in a specific spot or how it will actually look on physical packaging materials. That conscious human touch is what keeps design authentic!

Love this!

This is such an important distinction. AI can generate the output, but the creative intent behind every line, shape, and detail is what makes an illustration truly feel like a brand. The human touch is in the decisions.
Anita's avatar
Yeeees, thanks!

AI can definitely help you with things in design, but the process of doing everything by yourself is what adds value to design. All the hardwork and time put into a design. All the time you’ve spent looking at the same thing and asking new people to give you their honest opinion...
Anita's avatar
Thank you so much!

Absolutely agree! 👏 AI can accelerate the creative process, but the human touch is what gives a design its personality, originality, and emotional connection. The creative decisions behind every detail are what make great work truly stand out.

It takes time, it takes effort, and most of all it takes a human touch to make something feel authentic and that's always the point!
