Finding the right aesthetic for a brand isn’t about choosing the style you personally like most. It’s about understanding the sector, the audience, and the expectations already attached to that category.
A financial brand may need clarity and trust. A wellness brand may need calm and natural cues. A creative studio can take more visual risks. The methodology changes because the emotional job of the brand changes.
That doesn’t mean every brand should look the same. Familiarity gives people a starting point; distinctiveness gives them a reason to remember you. The goal is to understand which conventions create confidence, then decide where to follow them, refine them, or deliberately break them.
Good brand design balances recognition with difference: • familiar enough to feel relevant • distinctive enough to feel ownable • intentional enough to support the audience’s decision
Before asking, “What style looks best?” I think the better question is, “What should this brand make the right people feel—and what visual language will help them understand it?”
What sector do you think has the most interesting balance between familiarity and originality?

Fintech is the sector I find most interesting for this: every app has to borrow enough banking cues to feel safe with someone's money, so the originality has to live in tone, motion, and voice rather than the core layout, and getting that balance right is genuinely hard.
