One sentence in a script can create half an hour of work.
Not because the edit is complicated.
Because now you have to figure out what that sentence should actually look like.
Research the context. Find the right footage. Verify the details. Search for articles. Build a graphic...
Editors often confuse effort with value.
You can spend 3 hours building an animation with 40 layers in After Effects — and the viewer will see it for 2 seconds.
They don’t know how difficult it was.
They don’t know how many times it broke.
They only experience the final result.
So...
Video editing is sometimes barely about editing.
Especially with sports content.
Before the timeline comes the research: players, jersey numbers, teams, seasons, games and footage verification.
Because a beautiful edit with the wrong footage is still wrong.
