One sentence in a script can create half an hour of work.
Not because the edit is complicated.
Because now you have to figure out what that sentence should actually look like.
Research the context. Find the right footage. Verify the details. Search for articles. Build a graphic when nothing usable exists.
Sometimes the hardest part of editing isn't cutting footage.
It's answering one question:
“What am I supposed to show here?”
That problem-solving is a much bigger part of editing than most people ever see.

Editors often confuse effort with value.
You can spend 3 hours building an animation with 40 layers in After Effects — and the viewer will see it for 2 seconds.
They don’t know how difficult it was.
They don’t know how many times it broke.
They only experience the final result.
So if a simple zoom communicates the idea better than the complicated animation, use the zoom.
The goal isn’t to prove how hard you worked.
The goal is to make the video work.

Video editing is sometimes barely about editing.
Especially with sports content.
Before the timeline comes the research: players, jersey numbers, teams, seasons, games and footage verification.
